COP27: EGYPT
The COP27 summit taking place in Egypt is regarded as an opportunity for African leaders voices on the climate crisis to be heard. It is aimed at finding ways to help the continent meet climate targets and to offer help for societies in the global south that are already experiencing the effects of the climate crisis
Ministers across Africa met on Sunday with the aim to ensure that continent speaks with one voice in response to issues raised at the summit.
Just energy transition and the issue of funding were discussed if the continent were to meet expected targets.
African delegates have asked before that the countries responsible for the biggest greenhouse emissions pay for climate-related damages.
